Greetings!

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year. Thank you for choosing American Montessori Academy as your child’s home away from home this school year. Our entire staff is excited for a productive year ahead!

Our unique Montessori environment provides each student with individualized learning at his or her level. Every classroom at both campuses has the support of highly qualified instructional aides or reading/math specialty support staff. We believe that all students can achieve at the highest level when the proper supports are in place. One of these supports includes frequent and meaningful school to parent communication and interaction. AMA utilizes Facebook, School Messenger, our website, and a variety of other mechanisms to communicate with families. Also, we urge all parents to volunteer regularly. You can communicate directly with your child’s classroom teacher about specific volunteering opportunities that exist. Please do not hesitate to reach out this year if you have any questions or concerns.

This year we are excited to be adding several new programs to our school. First, we have a grade level expansion including eighth grade. We have two fantastic teachers at the middle school level who each have over 10 years of experience in educating middle school students! Additionally, we have added a Tuition Based Preschool classroom for ages 2.5 – 4 years old and a Great Start Readiness Preschool (4 years old by 9/1). We have also added Begindergarten to our programming. This program is for students who have traditionally late birthdays and will benefit academically, socially, and emotionally from an additional year of our Montessori primary program. Third, we have added a host of after school opportunities for our students at both campuses. Please see the attached note for the specific offerings each month and at each location. Finally, we have added a technology teacher. in 2016-2017, we added 100 chrome books to our technology program in our commitment to preparing students who are prepared for the 21st century. This year, the technology teacher will teach K-8 students the important, advancing technological skills needed to be successful in today’s world. This person will join a department already comprised of art, and physical education.

We are thrilled to start the upcoming school year and can’t wait to see each and every child soon!

Best,
